It was a perfect day at the Old Majors Ball Park in San Juan Capistrano as the Giants took on the Angels for the Double A Championship Game. This would be a great game and one that would offer all aspects of baseball including a walk off RBI single to win the game. Let’s get to all the action.
The Giants get things going in the top of the 1st , Donny Rimmer tees this one up as Hayden Dendiu turns on the jets, he’s headed for home and it looks like it’s going to be close. The throw is there but the runner misses the plate, a heads up play by the catcher to make the tag and he’s out.
Back on the base paths…Donny Rimmer goes on the pass ball and successfully steals 3rd base.
The Giants get on the board with this hot line drive by Henry Vangelos that just goes off the tip of the 2nd baseman’s glove as the Giants led 1-0.
Check out this bunt by Tip Dendiu, he lays it down and beats the throw driving in a run as the Giants led 2-0.
The Giants picked up their 3rd run off this tricky grounder by Nick Vu to the right side of the infield. The throw was not in time as the Giants led 3-0.
The Giants capped off the inning on this bases loaded walk as they led 5-0.
On the mound for the Giants was Henry Vangelos, he helps himself out with this nice play on the comebacker. He then gets out of the inning with a big strike out as the Giants were in control early.
The Angels get some good pitching of their own as Jordan Shaw strikes out the batter to end the top half of the 2nd.
Bases were loaded in the bottom of the 2nd for the Angels but Isaiah Mathews comes up with a clutch strike out to keep the Angels scoreless.
Top half of the 3rd, bases loaded as Trey Pate places this ball nicely into right field as two-runs come across and the Giants led 7-0 but this game was far from over…
We go to the top half of the 4th and things start to change for the Angels. Trent Little makes this nice basket catch. The Giants did not score in the inning.
The Angels would score in the bottom of the 4th as Francisco Jaime came up and crushed this pitch over the centerfielders head, the ball rolls to the fence Jaime pauses at 3rd briefly and then goes home, the throw was not in time and the Angels were on the board.
We pick up the action in the bottom of the 5th with a runner on 2nd. Trent Little comes up and connects on this pitch to left field. The hit drives in a run and the Angels had some momentum.
The momentum continued as the Angels would score 5 runs in the inning making it 10-7.
Clutch pitching by Patrick McClemmy in the top of the 6th. The Giants have two on but the Angels get out of the inning down by 2 with this strike out as they head to their final at bat.
With a runner on 1st Patrick McClemmy gets the end of the bat on this shot to right field, almost in slow motion this hit turns the game around. After a couple of mis-handled throws McClemmy is quickly on the heels of Francisco Jaime as Patrick goes all the way for the round tripper. The Angels were down by 1.
After a walk and a stolen base, the Angels kept it going with McFadden at 2nd base and Aiden Burns at the plate. Burns rips a line drive down the 3rd base line. McFadden turns the corner and scores the tying run. Burns ends up at 2nd.
After a pass ball Burns gives it his all and steals third base. It was a little sketchy but he stayed on the bag.
What was a great battle at the plate culminated with Gunnar Michalis hitting a shot to short that was simply too hot to handle. Burns comes in from third and the Angels stage an incredible come back winning the game and the San Juan Little League Double A Championship 11-10.

While some young kids are spending their Saturday afternoon hanging out with their friends, playing video games or _____________-there are a select few who choose to test their mental and physical strength for the greater good of their future.
Some do march to the beat of a different drum but on this day at what was the El Toro Marine Base 14 dedicated teenagers came together for an opportunity to participate in the Devil Pups program. Devil Pups is a non-profit organization designed to help boys and girls from all backgrounds gain self-confidence and learn to take responsibility for their actions. It is not a Marine Corps sponsored program or a mini boot camp. It does provide young boys and girls the opportunity to become healthier and more successful citizens.
On this day the Devil Pups in training first learned the discipline of attention and basic marching techniques. The Devil Pups were first organized in 1953 by retired Marine Corps Colonel Duncan Shaw Sr. after learning of a group of teenagers that burned an American flag. Aggravated by this activity, Colonel Shaw and a group of retired Marine Core Reserve Officers, now prominent Southern California businessmen, asked the Commandant of the Marine Corps to help with a community benefits project that would aid in the development of character qualities in teenage boys and girls and enable them to become healthier and more successful citizens.
Their introduction to the Devil Pups was swift and methodical. After learning basic techniques of marching the group then went into a series of warm up drills that prepared themselves for the physical fitness test to come. You can say it was the calm before the storm because the first test was that of sit ups. Their goal, 80 sit ups in two-minutes or less. They were awarded points for the amount of sit ups they were able to accomplish.
It was time to test arm and chest strength as push-ups were next on the agenda. The target was 60 push-ups. Each and every young person learned a great deal about themselves and it was all for the better.
From push ups to the pull up bar where 20 chin or traditional pull ups were the goal. This exercise is one that truly test any ones strength. To pull up your own body weight could simply be the difference in a life and death situation. This is an area that is only mastered by practice. Anna Monroy was the only female, her objective on the bar was to hold position for 15 seconds, she held her own scoring a total of 251 points and expressed her thoughts about the event.
The final discipline of the day took these young athletes to a special place at what was the historic El Toro Marine Base airstrip.
The opportunity was not taken for granite as each and every young person took something positive away from this experience.
The objective of this exercise is to qualify for the 10-ten program that takes paces at Camp Pendleton Marine Base that in no doubt changes the lives of these young people for the better.
The Devil Pups program making a positive impact on young people who make a difference in all of our lives…
Devil Pups History
In 1953, retired Marine Corps Colonel Duncan Shaw, Sr., learned that a group of teenagers burned an American flag at a Southern California high school. Aggravated by this activity and the attitudes among American youth it represented, Colonel Shaw and a group of retired Marine Corps Reserve Officers, now prominent Southern California businessmen, asked the Commandant of the Marine Corps to help with a community benefit project that would aid the development of character qualities in teenage boys and girls, and enable them to become healthier and more successful young citizens.

The Little League Baseball Season is heating up in more ways than one as the Angels took on the Yankees for the San Juan Capistrano Little League Triple A Championship.
Bottom of the 1ts a great catch made at 2nd base by Eli Robles as the Yankees were primed, pumped and ready to play. The Yankees are led by Coach Dino Cancellieri and Jeff Hatz. They do a great job coaching and leading the boys.
On the mound Ian Gottron catches the Angels looking to get out of the inning. We go to the bottom of the 1 st and the Yankees big bats were brewing. A surprise comebacker to the pitcher that is too hot to handle…Cameron Fox breaks for third and slides in safely as the Yankees had runners on the corners.
The first run of the game comes when Fox is able to score from third on this pass ball. The next pitch gets loose as it hits the batters and once again the Yankees are in business with base runners.
With two on Robert Gonzalez rips this pitch past the infield and into the gap as two-runners come around to score. The two-run double gave the Yankees a 5-0 lead. A little later on in the 1st the base paths were active as the double-steal was on. Gonzalez scores and the Yanks were up 4-0. Ian Gottron comes up and trys to help out, he hits a ball down the 1st base side and the Angels make a strong defensive play to steal a hit. Austin Hatz was on third and he scores the 5th run of the inning on this pass ball. At the end of 1 the Yanks had a comfortable lead of 5-0.
Great pitching prevailed early for the Yankees as Gottron struck out not one batter, but two and then the third batter of the inning as the Angels went down swinging in the Top half of the first.
We move to the bottom of the 2nd, Jonathan Jasso moves to second on this base hit up the middle and the Yanks looked like they were on the move again…Not so fast, Hunter Sweeney gets out of the inning with this clutch strike out as the score remained 5-0.
In the top of the third, Tyler Lee trys to get out of the way but gets hit on the foot. After a moment he got up and was good to go. Actually he was just fine as he steals 2nd base to get in scoring position. Lee eventually worked his way to 3rd and scores their first run off this pass ball. After a batter the Angels get their 2nd run off this comebacker to the mound, the play goes to first which gives times for the runner on third to score making it a 5-2 ball game.
Good diving stop and attempt made here by the Angels SS Max Beach. The throw was not in time but a great effort. Ian Gottron places this ball nicely on the shelf in short center as the Yanks get their 6th run of the game. The Angels get out of the inning on this play to short as Beach scoops it up and delivers softly to lee at 2nd base for the out.
We move to the bottom half of the 4th, Cade Calderon rips this triple to left field. Cade has just enough to get him into third before the tag is applied. The Yanks capitalize on Calderons’ hit as Eli Robles turn on the jets to beat the throw …Coach Dino is fired up as Robles gets the hit and the rbi.
Robert Gonzalez comes up and he lines a shot down the line at third scoring a run – he tries to stretch it into a triple but the ball beats him to third. Tag applied and the Angels get out of the inning but they were down 10-3.
The top of the 5th, Tyler Lee finds the gap in right-center with the bright afternoon sun covering the outfield. Lee eventually finds himself on third. On the pass ball he has his sights set on scoring and he does as the Angels get their 4th run on the board. Austin Hatz stops the bleeding as he strikes out the batter for the third out in the inning.
Hatz gets things going in the bottom of the 5th with this solid base hit. Ian Gottron hits a wicked fly ball that one is too hard to see in the sun and two has every one fooled as Hatz goes safely into 2nd. The base paths are alive with runners as the bat meets ball again for the Yanks which means trouble for the Angels. Another run scores and the Yankees are well in control of this game. A Little bit later on Jonathan Vasso is at 2nd. The hot grounder is hit to short, Beach picks it up, he races to second for one out but two the 15th run comes across which gives the Yankees a ten run lead making this game a mercy. The Yanks play a great game defeating the Angels 15-5. After the game Preston Higgins caught up with Yankees head coach Dino Cancellieri.
The starting pitcher for the Yanks was Ian Gottron, he had a clutch performance on the mound and at the plate.
Once again the Yankees defeat the Angels for he San Juan Capistrano Triple A Championship 15-5. For Preston Higgins, I am Paul Higgins thanks for watching Kids In Motion here on aim sports.tv.
